Time for experiences and presence
Travel June 13th. 2026 / with 1-6 days of hiking
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Experience the amazing first part of Camino Primitivo
Shared journey / maximum 6 participants
More and more have opened their eyes to the Primitivo, but the route is far from overrun. Most start in Oviedo with 321 km. to Santiago de Compostela, and especially the stretch till Grandas de Salime is a special experience with absolutely magnificent landscapes. If you go alone, you need to have an overview of the facilities along the route and to be prepared for quite deserted stretches. In 2024 I did the trip twice, and both in June and October I was hit in the heart by the view at 1,200 meters above the river Nadia. Join us walking the Camino -
- I am happy to provide suggestions regarding flight and accommodation, and I will do my best to facilitate an experience of a lifetime. The program is for 6 days of hiking, but you can participate one or more days, as you wish and have the opportunity. Most days I offer yoga, relaxation and meditation, 30-60 min., or maybe you have enough of the hike and all, that comes with it?
The Camino Primitivo can be a tough experience with the hilly terrain, but with a good mix of short and longer days, we arrive safely. Room for individual wishes and options to stay in albergue or hotels/pensions as you prefer.
Euro 220,- Registration fee, pilgrim pass and first aid kit
Euro 500,- Approx. own payment for flights & transfers, albergue, (optional hotel) breakfast & pilgrim menu with drinks

- The view to the river Nadia
A both individuel & social experience

June 14th. / Oviedo - Grado 25 km. with the option of bus or taxi the first 12 km. out of Oviedo. We leave Oviedo and soon we are surrounded by rural idyll. The few hills along today's route are manageable, and we have easy access to a few good cafes during the day. As most days with optional yoga, relaxation and meditation.
June 13th. / For instanse flight to Oviedo with a stopover in Madrid, Barcelona or Bilbao. Alternatively train/bus about 3 hours from Madrid or Bilbao. Oviedo is the capital of Asturias with a beautiful old town center. Time for check-in and welcome to be agreed upon.
June 15th. / Grado - Salas 22 km. Today's walk starts with a uphill as we move further and further into the countryside. Otherwise, today's route is without the bigger efforts. About halfway to Salas we stop in a small village with a 1.002 year old monastery and a couple of cozy cafes, before continuing through forests and lush surroundings with examples of traditional farmhouses.
June 16th. / Salas - Tineo 20 km. Tineo, along with Grado and Salas, are some of the very few villages west of Oviedo. Again we start the day with a climb - a long one, but the path is good and the climb is stable, so we don't burn out all our energy from the start.
June 17th. / Tineo - Borres 16 km. The views become more and more spectacular as we move along the Primitivo. The "original route" begins to show its most beautiful side with varied and magnificent landscapes. A manageable day with time to restore.
June 18th. / Borres - Berducedo 24 km. After Borres there are two variants of the route. One is relatively easy till Pola de Allande, before continuing via a pretty easy climb to the landmark Puerto del Palo and so on with a total of 29 km. to Berducedo. The other option is the original route "Por Hospitales", which is 4-5 km. shorter but more challenging and without options of refreshments and accommodation until Berducedo. We are prepared and take our time along "Por Hospitales" in the company of wild horses and extraordinary views, and if the challenge becomes too strenguous, there is option for taxi for the last 8 km. to Berducedo.
June 19th. / Berducedo - Grandas de Salime 20.5 km. The day starts pretty straightforward the first 5. km. to La Mesa, which is a small cute village with a handful of houses and a café located at an altitude of around 1.000 meters. The two times I was there in 2024, I saw wild rabbits. From La Mesa we contiune to reach a fantastic view of the Navia River, before starting a long descent of 1,200 meters / change of altitude to a dam that divides the river. On the other side it goes uphill again, and soon it is time for another café visit with wild views of the area - before we continue our last day walking to our destination in charming Grandas de Salime. Maybe you continue on to Lugo and Santiago yourself, or we take the bus to Lugo and so on.
- The way is the goal
