Experience Camino del Norte in Cantabria

Sept. 15th. / For instanse flight to Bilbao (round trip). Experience the old colorful district of Casco Viejo. Time and place for check-in and welcome to be agreed upon. Bilbao is the capital of the Basque Country. A dynamic city and an experience in itself.
Sept. 16th. / La Arena - Castro Urdiales 17 km. Possibility to visit the Guggenheim Museum before we pass the characteristic bridge at Portugalete. Soon we will continue to the beach in La Arena, where we share a toast og our intentions for the trip before we start our pilgrimage via the coastal variant - a beautiful and straightforward day to historic Castro Urdiales.
Sept. 17th. / Castro Urdiales - Islares 14 km. (including detour 2 x 3 km.) Breakfast with a view to the old port of Castro Urdiales. Soon we are exposed to more views along the beautiful stretch to Islares. There are several options for accommodation, e.g. at a campsite in 4-person tents with real beds. Also be ready for a surprise at the end of the day.
Sept. 18th. / Islares - Laredo 18 km. Another beautiful day in Cantabria, which includes a long, steady uphill to Liendo, which is located in a beautiful hill valley. From here we choose a unique camino-variant the last stretch to Laredo with the option of staying overnight at an old monastery, where the sweet nuns welcome us playing guitar during the service, if you're into that kind of thing.
Sept. 19th. / Laredo - Noja 15 km. We start the day with a one-hour walk along the beach out of Laredo, after which it is about a short boat trip to the fishing village of Santoña with time for a drink or second breakfast. With one exception, a pancake-flat stage with the opportunity to walk directly along three impressive beaches towards the village of Noja.
Sept. 20th. / Noja - Güemes 15 km. The route leads us more inland with small hills and rural idyll. Many check in at Albergue La Cabaña del Abuelo Peuto, which is typically a topic of conversation. As most days with optional yoga, relaxation & meditation.
Sept. 21th. / Güemes - Santander 16.5 km. Our last day together starts with a hike through attractive landscapes and later directly along the spectacular Spanish north coast. Finally another ferry ride to arrive in Santander around 2 pm. You may choose to stay overnight in Santander and continue along the Camino, otherwise we will turn to Bilbao and the airport. Buen Camino.
