While the first part of the Camino del Norte offers many hills, the Bilbao (La Arena) - Santander section is more straight forward with flat stretches and gentle hills. Get ready for local delicacies and wild nature experiences.
~ Expenses, estimated flight to Bilbao, return + transport: 200 euro
~ 6 x hostel/albergue (possibility of boarding house/hotels): 140 euro
~ 6 x breakfast, snacks and pilgrim menu, including drinks: 180 euro
~ Registration fee, first aid kit and pilgrim's passport: 80 euro
My service as a tour guide is free / donation-based, and the journey is at your own risk. That being said, I will do my best to facilitate an experience of a lifetime. The costs are for 7 days, but you can participate for one day or more, as you like and have the opportunity. In addition to my support and guidance, I offer yoga, relaxation and meditation, 30-60 min. daily. Join us on the Camino.

Camino del Norte in Cantabria
Wednesday, October 15th / Flight to arrive in Bilbao. Travel day and arrival in colorful Bilbao with check-in in the old town, Casco Viejo. Meeting, information & dinner.
1st walking day / La Arena - Castro Urdiales 16 km. Morning with the opportunity to visit the impressive Guggenheim Museum, before we head out of town past the characteristic and unique bridge at Portugalete - and on to the beach at La Arena, where we start our pilgrimage. A beautiful and straightforward day to historic Castro Urdiales.
2nd walking day / Castro Urdiales - Islares 14 km. (including detour 2 x 3 km.) Breakfast and a view of the old port in historic Castro Urdiales, and soon we are exposed to more impressive views along the beautiful coastline to Islares. We check into a small campsite and spend the night in 4-person tents with beds and wooden floors, and then you can look forward to a surprise at the end of the day.
3rd walking day / Islares - Laredo 18 km. Another beautiful day in the lush Cantabria, which offers, among other things, a long, steady climb before going pleasantly downhill to the village of Liendo located in a beautiful hill valley. From here we choose a beautiful camino variant that leads the last stretch to Laredo, where we check in at an old monastery.
4th walking day / Laredo - Noja 14 km. We start the day with an hour's walk along the beach in Laredo to a small bay. From here it is a short boat trip and a stop in the fishing village of Santoña with time for a drink or early lunch. With one exception, a pancake-flat stage with the opportunity to walk directly along three impressive beaches to the village of Noja.
5th walking day / Noja - Güemes 14 km. The route leads inland for a while with small hills along the way. Most pilgrims stay at Albergue La Cabaña del Abuelo Peuto, which will probably also be a topic of conversation the following day. Every day with optional yoga.
October 21 / 6th walking day / Güemes - Santander 17 km. A beautiful last day of walking through attractive landscapes and directly along the spectacular Spanish north coast. Finally with another short ferry ride and arrival in Santander. at 2 pm. Maybe you choose an extra night, otherwise there is a departure to Bilbao and the airport. Thank you for this time.
