Time for experiences and presence
Travel September 8th. 2026 / with 1-6 days of hiking
Camino del Norte from start in the Basque Country
There are several routes to Santiago. The start of the coastal route, Camino del Norte, is stunningly beautiful and a challenge with the many hills, but with a mix of short and longer days and a focus on recovery and well-being, we arrive happily to Munitibar and Bilbao. Be ready for wild nature experiences and beautiful beaches.
Shared journey / maximum 6 participants
With space for solitude and optional transport of luggage for 5-7 euros per day. Stay at albergue or hotel/pensions.
Euro 220,- Registration fee, pilgrim pass and first aid kit
Euro 500,- Approx. own payment for flights & transfers, albergue, (possibly hotel) breakfast & pilgrim menu with drinks
- I am happy to provide suggestions regarding flights and accommodation, and I will do my best to facilitate an experience of a lifetime. The program is for 6 days of hiking, but you can participate one or more days, as you wish and have the opportunity. Most days I offer yoga, relaxation and meditation, 30-60 min., or maybe you have enough of the hike and all, that comes with it?

A life-affirming journey with Camino Friends. Daniel Walter
Discover San Sebastian with inviting beaches

The monastery at the church of Saint Lucia, Ziortza
Both an individual and social experience
The first part of Camino del Norte is hilly, and it can be tough with the the hard terrain. We take time to rest and find our rhythm, and if it is too much of a challange, there is never far to go by bus, train or to get help from the local taxi driver.
Sept. 9th. / Irún - Pasai Donibane 16 km. Get ready for fantastic nature experiences. There are plenty of hills from the start, and soon we choose a Camino variant further up a ridge with wild views. At Pasai Donibane we cross the fjord in a small boat.
Sept. 10th. / Pasai Donibane - San Sebastian - around Orio 18 km. Again with hills from the beginning of the day, but the path is in good condition, and soon we have a view to San Sebastian and time to explore the old town with access to inviting beaches. The hills continue after San Sebastian, but we take our time and find our flow.
Sept. 11th. / Orio - Zarautz - Getaria 14 km. Another day with lush and stunningly beautiful landscapes. From the surfer village of Zarautz we choose an easy coastal route to the port town of Getaria, which, like San Sebastian, is known for its gastronomy.
Sept. 12th. / Getaria - Zumaia - Deba 16+2 km. First we move a little inland to Zumaia, where we take a small detour to Playa Itzurun and Flysch with unique rock formations that have been the scene in "Game of Thrones". Ending at the square in Deba.
Sept. 13th. / Deba - Markina 24 km. / possibly taxi ride the first 9 km. to the café in Olatz. The king stage of the trip leads us through spectacular landscapes and fairytale forests. Like most days with optional yoga, relaxation and meditation.
Sept. 8th. / For instanse flight to Bilbao (round trip), Biarritz or San Sebastian with easy access to the start of Camino del Norte in Irún by the French-Spanish border. With the possibility of a boat trip & city walk. Time for check-in and welcome to be agreed upon.
Sept. 14th. / Markina - Munitibar 12 km. or 25. km. in total to Gernika. Our last day together with experiences beyond the ordinary. First we walk along a small stream, and soon it goes uphill again towards the monastery and the 1,000-year-old church at Ziortza, where we taste the local monk's brew. At lunchtime we reach the village Munitibar. Maybe you continue to Gernika, known for Picasso and the Freedom Museum, or we take the bus to Bilbao with the possibility of visiting the Guggenheim Museum ending in the colorful neighborhood of Casco Viejo, the old town. Thanks for this time.
